Croatia Weather – May
May marks the start of the good season on the Adriatic coast. Temperatures are pleasant, between 18 and 23 °C depending on the region, and sunshine is already generous with over 270 hours in Dubrovnik and Šibenik.
The sea is still cool (around 18–20 °C) but warms up quickly. This is the ideal time to visit historical sites, stroll through old towns and enjoy nature without the summer crowds.
Rainfall remains moderate (50–100 mm depending on the station) with on average 9 rainy days on the Dalmatian coast.

Tips for May
- Ideal for cultural visits (Dubrovnik, Split, Trogir) without excessive heat
- Few tourists — more affordable accommodation and less need for reservations
- The sea is still cool for swimming, but the beaches are pleasant
- Bring a light jacket for evenings
- Perfect for hiking in national parks (Plitvice, Krka)
